Anti-plagiarism (Turnitin) Training
School of Graduate Studies in collaboration with the University Library organized for a one day anti-plagiarism (Turnitin) Training of all postgraduate supervisors at the University Senate boardroom on 6th Dec, 2018. The training was facilitated by Dr. George Njoroge the Chief University Librarian Kenyatta University. DVC Academics and Students Affairs, Prof S. Shibairo made a training opening address
Training for Repository manager and ICT Persons by KLISC/EIFL
Kibabii Library staff Mr. Okiyai Otieng’ and Mr. Bernard Sitienei had a privilege to attend the training for repository managers organized by Kenya Library & information Services Consortium (KLISC) and Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) hosted at UoN KENET computer lab on 27th to 29th November 2018. Kibabii University Library was among the few selected institutions library to attend the training. The scope covered during the training were;

- Open data and
- Open education
Kibabii University 4th Annual Information Professionals Workshop
Kibabii University Library Department organized a one day workshop for information Professionals held on Friday 12th October, 2018 in Auditorium C. This is an annual event. The topical areas covered under the theme “Productive, effective, efficient and sustainable knowledge management for results delivery” included: Leadership, ethics and accountability in knowledge management, Cloud based services and management of information resources and Confronting challenges in providing access to legal records.
Information Professionals i.e Tertiary/University Librarians, School Librarians, Teacher Librarians, ICT Personnel, Documentalists, Archivists and Record Managers from eight counties namely Bungoma, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Kakamega, Vihiga, Uasin Gishu and Trans-nzoia attended.

Library Department Represented at the Bungoma A.S.K Satellite Show 2018
Kibabii University led by DVC (Planning, Partnerships, Research and Innovation) Prof. Dr.-Ing. Benedict M. Mutua, PhD, Rer. Nat. participate in the Bungoma A.S.K Satellite Show 2018 at the Masinde Muliro showground in Kanduyi. The A.S.K Satellite show took place on 19th September, 2018 – 22nd September, 2018. At the event University Library department showcasing Information material available in the University Library, the use of OPAC system in Library and how the community can benefit from the Information Resources.
Inter-denominational Service for 2018/2019 First Year Students
The Kibabii University Christian Union team led by Dr. Robert Wafula organized an Inter-denominational service for 2018/2019 first year students on 14thSeptember, 2018. Invited guest pastor was Timothy Kituyi; the groove award winner and African award winner in local dialects. DVC (Academics and Students Affairs) Prof S. Shibairo among other staff were in attendance.

Purpose
We have assembled here to celebrate an extraordinary event. That of inducting you into the world of academia. This is because you embody the future. You are the people that Kenya and indeed the rest of the world has hope. It is therefore a special day. Moreover, like Hemingway wrote in his favorite book: “Today is only one day in all the days that will ever be. But what will happen in all the other days that ever come can depend on what you do today”. That is why speaking to a special group like you on a day like this is always a precious and singular honor for me.
Welcome
First, I wish to congratulate you on passing your KCSE 2017 examinations and for being among only 63.000 who qualified to join the Public Universities from 615,773 candidates. You excelled in your examinations and earned a coveted place at Kibabii University.
Secondly, I wish to welcome you to Kibabii University. A young but promising institution of higher learning. The only University where the Chancellor is the President of the Republic of Kenya. The University is founded on 6 values. It aspires to produce scholars who embody Excellence, Accountability and Transparency, Social responsibility, Innovation, and are of Integrity while utilizing their Academic freedom in performing their duties.
Vice Chancellor Address to New Students 2018/2019
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Ipara Odeo gave an address to the 2018/2019 new students at the Graduation Square on 13th September, 2018. Prof. Odeo welcomed students to Kibabii University which is the only University where the Chancellor is the President of the Republic of Kenya
In his keynote orientation address themed “Sailing or Drifting through School” Prof. Odeo called on the new first year students to sail through Kibabii University not to drift.

Kibabii University Begins Biometric Registration of Students
The September 2018 intake is the first group to be registered under the Biometric system. The process entails capturing of students’ fingerprint and digital passport photograph. The move is geared towards the directive from the government that all Institutions of higher learning to develop an effective biometric register for all students.
2018/2019 First Year Students Admission
Kibabii University welcomes all 2018/2019 first year students. The new students are undergoing the registration exercise where they are required to verify their academic documents and validate their health records before they are admitted in their respective Schools and Faculties. Afterwards they are expected to clear with Finance, Libray, Clubs and Hostel departments.

Webometrics Kibabii University Ranked Position 10 in Kenya July 2018
Kibabii University improves to position 10 from 71 in the webometrics ranking of Kenyan Universities. Globally Kibabii University was ranked at position 6461 from 21916 in the previous ranking that was done in February 2018. Kibabii University scored highly in the criteria used in the survey, namely institutional presence, impact, openness and excellence. The survey is conducted twice annually by Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.
In another webometrics ranking by uniRank, Kibabii University improves to position 25 from 35 in Kenyan Universities.
Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation Donates Materials to Kibabii University
Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation in Netherlands donates materials (papers, Compact disc, USB sticks, booklets and pens) to Kibabii University. The memory sticks were given to the best female and male students of Agriculture and the booklets and papers were handed over to the University Library. The materials will strengthen Kibabii University’s capacity on Agricultural training through increased access to up-to date information in agriculture. In-attendance were Prof. Odeo Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mutua, PhD, Rer. Nat. DVC (Planning, Partnerships, Research and Innovation), Dr. Kefa Osolo Nyende Chairman Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences and Mr. Joshua Ilavonga In-Charge Library.

New Student Library Orientation
As a routine all new students undergo orientation on the Kibabii University operations. This year 2017, the Library Department organized for Library orientation for all new students. The in charge, Library Department Mr. Joshua Ilavonga together with other section heads addressed the students on various Library operations. Students had the opportunity to ask questions concerning the Library Department. Furthermore the students had a Library tour in the effort of familiarizing themselves with all sections in the department.
Mendeley Certification Program
Systems Librarian Mr. Okiyai Otieng’ (SR) presenting gifts received from Elsevier publishers (Netherlands) after successfully completing level I & II of Mendeley certification program. Receiving the gifts are DVC Planning, Partnerships, Research and Innovation Prof. Dr.-Ing. Benedict M. Mutua (L), Mrs. Margaret Wanambisi (R) & Dorcas Kosgey.
Workshop for Information Professionals from Western Region
You are cordially invited for a one day workshop for Information Professionals to be held on Friday 2nd, December, 2016 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. It is being organized by Kibabii University. The topical issues to be covered by professionals in the field of Information Science/Knowledge Management will include: Information and Society, ICT and Information Services, Information Repackaging and Brokerage, Global Trends in Information Dissemination, Access and Use.
Target Group: College Librarians, Secondary School Librarians, Teacher Librarians, ICT Personnel, Documentalists, Archivists and Record Managers (Note: An Institution/Organization can send more than one participant).
Venue: Kibabii University Main Campus (Auditorium B)
