History of Kibabii University Library

The Library was started in March 2012 at the initial inception of Kibabii University. It had very limited information resources and equipment with only four staff on board. The library collection has since grown in numbers with various information resources coming mostly from book donors among them; Prof. Ipara Odeo(The Ag. Vice Chancellor Kibabii University), Strathmore University College, Mrs. Margaret Wanambisi, The Kenya National Archives and Documentation Services, United Nation Environmental Program, Wime bookshop, Children International, World Bank, Cambridge University Press, Salaries and Remuneration Commission, KIPPRA, Management University of Africa, Prof. S.E Migoti(Chairman of Kibabii University Council), Oxford University Press among many others.

Currently the Library is divided into three main divisions namely: Readers Service Division, Technical Services Division and Information Communication Technology Division (ICT). The University Library is headed by the Deputy University Librarian. Furthermore the University Library boosts of 24 qualified staff. The sitting capacity of the university Library is 800 based in a one storeyed building.

The Library is fully computerized with Library Information System and has further grown to have branches in Bungoma town and Lodwar center.Our collection stands over 75 Electronic Databases and 20,000 Print Resources.
