Fortifying Environmental Security Management of University Resource Persons through Technology: A Case Study of Kibabii University

Abstract
The requirement for university education as yardstick for employment opportunities in developing economies has seen tremendous growth in university population, Kenya included. This growth has brought forth key security challenges that Universities management have been forced to grapple with. This paper investigates universities environmental resource personnel’s security management; identifies gaps in the current measures put in place and evaluates various ways in which the measures can be strengthened. A survey of available literature shows concerted efforts from government authorities such as ministerial policy guidelines, use of police, etc., and university management’s efforts such as setting up security control rooms, regular security patrols, establishing student representations, etc., in reinforcing security management. These measures however, apply largely to resident personnel. Through purposive sampling of 10 key technological innovations in the last 10 years, documentation reveals the capability and capacity in skill to use technology to enhance the management of security of university resource personnel in and around the university environment. This revelation serves as an eye opener to universities management to embrace and utilize benefits accrued from available technological innovations.
